The poem 'Don't Cry When I Am Gone' is a portrayal of a deceased person's wish after death. He does not want his loved ones to shed tears, standing in front his grave. He wants them not to cry and prolong sadness their. He promises to remain in their heart forever. This funeral poem, written under the pseudonym Lawyerjourno, represents the thought of the deceased person, not of those who have lost him. Written in a simple language, it shows the sensitivity and fragility of life, accepting the inevitability of death. Death is a fact, from which no one can escape.
Don't Cry When I Am Gone
Do not cry when I am gone
Do not prolong your sadness
Do not go along grief when I am gone
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am always there in your heart
Thousand winds can't blow me
Tidal waves can't take away me
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I will always be on your facial glow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
You see me in your rim and gate
I am a gentle perfume on your neck
I am a flower on your hair knot
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you go to your school
You see me in the morning rush
You see my face in crowded place
When I am gone, no ego no race
But, I will miss the pious embrace
I will see you as starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
