The poem 'First Crush', by Christina A. Washburn, is a beautiful appreciation of first crush of a teenage girl and its influence on her. Christina says that for any teenage girl, her first crush is a unique and strange experience. When she meets her first crush, neither her body nor her mind is in her control. She blushes and flusters. The poetess further says that in teenage love, a person is not aware of the outcome - as to whether the love will convert into commitment or fade away. We feel if we are on brink and can be pulled off. The euphoric phase of the first crush and its various facets have been well described in this 'teenage love' poem.
First Crush
Her body isn't hers, nor is her mind
She finds herself shivering, shaking, blushing,
Weak, tormented, sick and going blind
And why? Some guy might look her way.
Then cast his eyes as quickly to the ground;
Some special guy, for reasons she can't say.
Whose voice which makes her feel faint
When he's around
But now my crush on you has returned,
And so the two of us will stand on some brink
It can't be love so young, and yet we've learned,
Love does its will, no matter what we think.
Slowly, slowly now-we mustn't rush.
Let's enjoy this first teenage crush.
Let's enjoy this first teenage crush.
