Our Wedding Day By David Harris

The ritual of wedding makes two hearts one. Two people, married to each other, promise to remain there for one another for lifetime. The poem 'Our Wedding Day', by David Harris, shows similar emotions and feelings on the part of the poet and his beloved. David says that everyone should always remember the hymn sung and vows taken during the wedding ceremony. They are important to keep the marriage intact for long time. An exposition of his state of mind during the wedding ceremony, the poem says that a newly-married couple should only think of joy that will follow the wedding. They should forget everything for time being, and look towards the brighter side of life. The poem is a beautiful description of wedding and the happiness that follows it.

Our Wedding Day

We always remember
Our wedding day,
The hymns we sang,
And the vows we took
And church bells ringing.
We never thought
Of the troubles that might come,
Only the good times ahead.
There were no regrets
Following us down the isle,
Only beaming faces
Filled with a smile.
The outside world
Didn’t encroach on our moment of joy,
As girl and boy
Became man and wife
To live to together forever.
Nor did we think
Of any sadness and pain
That our lives would be strained
Or falling out of love
Was never on our mind
Nor the pain that would incur,
Only the happiness that we might find.
