It is seen that problems usually surround us when we act and try to do something. However, when we are not doing anything, we avoid a large number of problems. In other words, sitting idle is one of the best ways to avoid troubles. 'The Answer' is a beautiful description of the thinking of an escapist. In the funny poem, Randy Thomas devises a wonderful solution all the problems. He plans to remain in the bed and avoid going outside. This way, he will not have to undergo any problems; there would be harsh words from anyone, nor would there be wrong deeds. By remaining in bed and constraining himself to it, the poet thinks that he would avoid so many hassles. He develops a safe and comfort zone for himself. Now, he is in the most wanted peaceful state of mind and likes it.
The Answer
I've found a perfect, foolproof way
Of having just a perfect day
With no harsh word or unkind deed
To keep me from the peace I need
I never fear a traffic jam
Or folks who aren't kind...as I am
No rain or sleet to soil my shoes
Nor cloudy days to bring the blues
No harsh concerns can furl my brow
Because I have the answer now
To keep all worries from my head
I simply don't get out of bed
