The Ring By Kristie

The poem 'The Ring', by Kristie,is about a girl who loves someone she knows would never comeback in her life. She is also aware that people would think that she is stupid waiting for someone who has abandoned her for ever. Still, she waits! One thing that reminds her about her beloved is the ring that he had gifted her. The poem, written in monologue, effectively illustrates the impossibility of the idea that the girl's beloved will come back in her life. 'The Ring' is a sad poem of heart, where, despite all odds, love does not fade away.

The Ring

She walks alone
waiting for him to return
everyone wonders why she just can't see
She is waiting by a door that will never open
A sun that will never rise
But they never saw the love she did in his eyes
They talk to each other now through their dreams
She remembers the day he gave her that beautiful ring
And the day that she gives up
on the door that supposedly will never open
is the day she returns the ring to him
While he is lying in a coffin
Being lowered into the sand
With all their hopes, dreams, and memories
Locked on one woman's hand.
