The poem 'You Everything', by Ashley, explored mixed feelings. On one hand, the poet feels dejected by his lover and on the other; he wants her to come back to him. Generally, missing you poems express the poet's anguish at being left by his/her beloved. They make us think of someone who is away from us. When we are not near our loved ones, their memories are the only things that help us to keep going on in our life. We think of all the small quirks and acts of the person and, combined in the form of memories, they help us tide over the times when we are alone. This poem shows that Ashley is missing his loved one very much. For him, the days have become darker and nights cooler. Everything seems to be awful. Ashley hopes his beloved would come back to him and bring happiness and joy in his life once again.
You Everything
You were my everything
You were my light
You had my heart
But not you have left everything behind and said your goodbyes.
But you took my heart and my light
My days are darker and my nights are colder
I can not feel anything for there is nothing left to feel
You left me behind and left me to die
But I am here crying out your name
Hoping that once again you will bring back my light to my days
And my heart so that I may feel your love once more again
